Techno is more than music: since the late 1980s, a unique culture with social, political, economic, and aesthetic dimensions has developed around techno and communal dancing. Since 2017, Zurich's techno culture has been recognized as one of Switzerland's living traditions (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage); the Street Parade in Zurich is the largest techno party in the world. The book describes the many facets of techno and its international connections, from music and the design of flyers and fashion to the individual and collective significance of dancing.
